Mangalore, Oct 15, 2013 : It was a spectacular end to the nine-day Mangalore Dasara festivities at the Sri Gokarnanatha Temple, Kudroli.
The Shobhayatra of the Mangalore Dasara which commenced from the Temple premises on October 14, Monday evening at 4 pm, culminated on October 15, Tuesday morning with the immersion of the idols of the Navadurgas, Lord Ganesha and Goddess Sharada amid a sea of devotees.
The colourful procession carrying the idols of the Goddesses, Lord Ganesha, innumerous tableaux, Huli Vesha trucks added glitter and thousands had descended on the streets of Mangalore to witness the grand finale of the most awaited event of the year.
The decorative Tanjavore umbrellas, the chende sets, bhajans teams, Kalladka dolls and tableaux depicting historical and mythological scenes were watched with amaze by people not only from the city but across the nation. The procession passed through the illuminated streets from the Temple towards Mannagudda, Ladyhill, Lalbagh, KS Rao Road, Carstreet and Alake to culminate at the temple.
