Mangalore: CFI stages protest demanding justice for Akshatha

Mangalore, Sep 28, 2013 :  Several students participated in a demonstration organised by the district committee of the Campus Front of India demanding Justice for Akshatha,  a college student who died under mysterious circumstances.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Tufail, State CFI Committee member  demanded a thorough probe into the case and also to check the crime against female students and women  which has seen a rise in the recent past in the twin districts.

 He said mere death penalty to the rapists in the Nirbhaya case would not put an end to crime against women and demanded a special act for protection of women.

 CFI Member Saleem Malar accused the police of inaction in checking crimes against women in the district.

 The agitators also demanded compensation for the family of Akshatha.
