Mangalore: Akhila Bharatha Billawara Union celebrates Founder’s Day

Mangalore, Sep 25, 2013: The Akhila Bharatha Billawara Union and the  Narayana Guru Educational Institutions celebrated their Founder’s Day at Damodar R Suvarna Auditorium in Kudroli on September 24, Tuesday. State Minister for Youth Welfare, Fisheries and Sports Abhayachandra Jain inaugurated the function.

 

 

In his address, Abhayachandra exhorted youngsters to   follow the principles of Sri Narayana Guru,  the great saint philosopher who was successful in bringing about social reforms at a time when the backward classes were subject to much exploitation.

The Suvarnashree Award instituted by the  Union was conferred on  M Jayananda Devadiga, Secretary of the DK and Udupi District Backward Classes Union.

Several dignitaries including Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Naveenchandra D Suvarna, President of the Akhila Bharatha Billawara Union, Dr Vasanth Kumar, Principal of  Sri Narayana Guru College, were present on the dais.

A blood donation camp was organised at the College to mark the Founder’s Day.
