Mangalore, June 14, 2013 : Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo was felicitated on behalf of the Akhila Bharatha Beary Parishad at a function held at Town Hall in Mangalore on June 13, Thursday.
Although the Parishad had planned to honour all ministers and MLAs of the district only Lobo could make it to the function. Kanachur Monu, Chairman of Kanachur Academy, inaugurated the function in a novel way by cutting a piece of the traditional wheat halwa.
Addressing the gathering after accepting the felicitation, Lobo said he was grateful to the organisers for honouring him with love and affection and added the honour was also a way to remind one of his responsibilities towards the society. There is a need for the society to respect all religions, languages and culture to promote peace and amity, Lobo said.
Former minister BA Moidin also spoke on the occasion.Abdul Azeez Baikampady, President of the Parishad, presided over the function. Five corporators of Mangalore City Corporation belonging to the community as well as councilors of Ullal TMC and other local bodies were honoured.

The function was followed by Beary cultural programmes.
