Mangalore, May 7, 2013 : The nine-day long Culture Camp for children titled ‘Zollzollchim Noktiram’; organized by Mandd Sobhann, in association with Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and ‘Raknno’ weekly, concluded at Kalaangann on May 5, Sunday.
Rev. Fr Francis Rodrigues, Editor, Raknno weekly who was the chief guest, urged the children to practice in their day-to-day life, the discipline and training which they received during the camp and utilize it in developing their talents.
Roy Castelino, Member, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, applauded the children for their active participation in the camp and also wished them the best.
The main trainers of the camp – Anil Patrao & Ms. Lavita Lobo (Singing), Nandita Sequeira & Rahul Pinto (Dance), Christopher D’Souza, Neenasam & Rony Crasta (Konkani), were honoured on the occasion. Eric Ozario, the Director of the camp, Stany Alvares, President, Mandd Sobhann and Rony Arun, Treasurer, Mandd Sobhann were also on the dais.
On behalf of all the participants, Hazel D’Souza & Alden Fernandes, shared their experience at the camp. The children of the Singing Category presented 2 songs which they had composed and tuned.
Certificates were distributed to all the participants of the Culture Camp. The best in each category – Evangeline Lobo (Singing), Abigail Rego (Dance) and Lester Menezes (Theatre) – were honoured with a Certificate, a bouquet and cash prize of Rs. 1,000/- each. Salomi Alvares (Theatre) bagged the Best Camper Award and was honoured with a Certificate, bouquet of flowers and cash prize of Rs. 3,000/-.
The children then entertained the house-full audience with various songs, dances and a play titled ‘Rayachi Novi Mustaiki’ (King’s New Costume) at the 137th Monthly Theatre, which began at 6.30 p.m..
