Man dies in goods tempo - Tanker truck collision at Katpadi.

Udupi, Apr 7, 2012: A person died when a goods tempo collided with a tanker at Katpady on NH66 at 3:00 p.m. on April 7 Saturday. 

The deceased is the driver of the tempo driver whose identity is not yet known.

 

The tempo was on its way from Mangalore to Udupi and the tanker was returning to Kochi from Goa, where it had unloaded chemicals. 

Eyewitnesses say that the tempo driver was driving in a careless manner. He sustained severe injuries and was admitted to a hospital in Udupi, where he died at 4:15 p.m. 

The driver of the tanker Nagaraj and cleaner escaped without any injuries. According to a complaint lodged by Nagaraj, the Kaup police have registered a case. 

The tempo and the tanker have both been damaged. The accident caused a major traffic block, which lasted for hours.
