Kharvi’s alleged misdeeds involve the purchase of fish from the federation without fulfilling the corresponding payment and withholding the commission owed to the federation from fish sales. The situation escalated when three checks issued by Kharvi to the federation bounced, prompting the federation to file a formal complaint in court.

In response to these serious allegations, legal actions were initiated, culminating in an order from the Fifth JMFC (Junior First Class Magistrate) court within the city. This order mandated Manjunatha Kharvi to repay an amount of Rs 88 lakhs to the federation. Regrettably, Kharvi did not comply with this directive, prompting the issuance of an arrest warrant in his name.

On September 20, the Kundapur police executed the arrest of Manjunatha Kharvi at his residence in Uppunda. Subsequent to his apprehension, he was presented before a magistrate and subsequently placed in judicial custody.
