Man arrested for kidnapping and raping minor

Udupi, June 13, 2012 : Abubakker Siddique (23) of Parkala stands accused of kidnapping a minor Dalit girl and raping her for more than one month.

The girl’s mother has lodged a complaint with the local police, according to which Siddique took the 15-year-old to Bangalore on May 7 and kept her confined in a house. He then forced her to have sex with him, and when she refused, he beat her up. He also threatened to kill her if she refused to cooperate with him and then raped her repeatedly.

The Manipal police, under the leadership of SI Eshwar Nayak, arrested Siddique in Manipal on June 12, Tuesday. The girl was rescued and sent to a remand home. The girl says that Siddique promised to marry her and then forced her to have a physical relationship with him.

Prabhudev Mane, the deputy superintendent of Udupi, is now investigating the case.
