Man arrested for hurling stones at neighbour’s house, setting afire auto

Udupi, Sep 26, 2023: A man who was reportedly under the influence of narcotics has set afire his neighbour’s autorickshaw and also hurled stones at the latter’s house at Hanumanthanagar in Nittur. He was later detained by the police.

The accused has been identified as Khaleem.  The auto owned by Diwaker Belchada is badly damaged in the incident.

It is learnt, as soon as Khaleem began hurling stones, the police were informed. The police arrived at the spot and warned Khaleem. However as soon as the cops left, Khaleem poured kerosene on the autorickshaw that was parked nearby and set it afire. The autorickshaw was completely gutted by the time the fire was doused.

The police later detained the accused.
