Man arrested for attempted murder in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, August 20, 2023: Police have apprehended an individual on allegations of attempting to murder another person on a footpath adjacent to a convenience store near the service bus stand in the city on August 18.

The arrested man is identified as Mohammed Hanif, also recognized as Chaku (30), residing near Ammu Bakery, Naidu Nagar, Kurimandi Kesru, Mysuru.

As per the provided information, at approximately 10:15 pm on August 18, Eerappa Kuri, known as Veeresh, requested that the accused Hanif settle an unpaid liquor bill. In response, Hanif reportedly grew agitated and launched an attack on Veeresh, utilizing a folding blade to inflict wounds on Veeresh’s left hand and neck. Furthermore, Hanif is alleged to have made threats on Veeresh’s life.

A case linked to this incident has been officially recorded at the South Police Station within the city. PSI Jyoti apprehended Hanif and presented him before the court. Consequently, Hanif has been remanded to judicial custody.
