Malpe: Cattle sparks tension in Paduthonse

Udupi, Mar 21, 2013 : Tension prevailed at Bengre in Paduthonse near Malpe on March 20, Wednesday when members of the Hindu and Muslim communities gathered in large numbers in the town  consequent upon previous night’s incident wherein members of Hindu organizations took exception to the presence of a cattle in the hose of BK Javed of Bengre.

They even informed the cops on the suspicion that the calf was brought for slaughtering purposes. When the owner failed to give a satisfactory reply the police took the cattle to the Neelavara Goshala.


Gathering information of the incident, members of both the communities gathered and  stones were pelted at houses of members of the Muslim communities. There are reports that the TV  stand in Javed’s house has been damaged following the stoning. The police who rushed to the spot resorted to a lathi charge to disperse the crowd. Tight security has been maintained in the area under the leadership of DySP Prabhudeva Maane.


Meanwhile, the Udupi District Muslim Okkoota has submitted a memorandum to Udupi SP to crack down the elements which are trying to disrupt harmony in the area. The Okkoota has also alleged that the police had bowed to Sangh Parivar pressure and had taken the cattle in the house of BK Javed to the Goshala and that the occupants of the house were abused.
