Malpe: 2 labourers die as granite slab falls over them

Udupi, Sep 14, 2023: Two labourers were killed on the spot after a granite slab fell on them while they were unloaded from the container lorry for flooring work of an under-construction house at Thottam near Malpe on Thursday noon.

 

The deceased have been identified as Babulal (35) and Bhaskar (35), both of whom were labourers from Orissa.

As construction work was underway at a house in Totam, granite was being brought in a container lorry. During this process, granite fell inside the lorry, causing injuries. The injured workers, who sustained serious injuries, are reported to have lost their lives on the spot.

The Malpe police have arrived at the scene and are conducting an investigation.
