Major haul of drugs in Kasargod: Cops seize 180 kg ganja in 2 raids

 Kasargod, April 10, 2013: In a huge haul of drugs, a special police team has seized 180 kg of ganja from two places in Uppala in Manjeshwar on April 8, Monday evening and also  arrested two persons. The value of the seized ganja is Rs 27 lakhs.


The raids followed a tip off. The special team raided the Azeena Quarters at Mallangai in Uppala where it found 30 kg of ganja in gunny bags. One Abdul Azeez(38) from Talangere who was found residing in the  place,  was arrested. A woman who was in this house has also been taken into custody for enquiry.

The second raid  was following the revelation made by Azeez. Police then found ganja hidden in a house at Bajal in Pavoor near Manjeshwar. A total of 150 kg ganja was seized from here. One Abdul Rahiman (43) was arrested.


Interrogations of the accused revealed that the ganja was earlier hidden in a house at Kunjattur and was shifted from there.  


Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mohanchandra Nair, and police personnel, Ramachandran, C K Balakrishnan, Narayanan, Mahendran, Ramachandran, and others were in the raiding team.
