Mangaluru, Aug 29, 2026: India’s shipbuilding sector is gaining momentum, with Mangaluru emerging as an important centre for maritime manufacturing.

Chowgule Shipyard has further strengthened the country’s shipbuilding capabilities by achieving several key milestones. On August 26, the shipyard delivered MV Hansa Anholt, the second vessel in a series of 8,500 DWT cargo ships being built for German shipping company Leonhardt & Blumberg.

On the same day, the shipyard signed an agreement with the global shipping company for the construction of additional vessels in the 8,500 DWT category, further strengthening their partnership.

The shipyard also launched the third vessel in the 8,500 DWT series for Leonhardt & Blumberg on August 28.

The developments highlight the growing capabilities of India’s shipbuilding industry and increasing confidence among international shipowners in Indian shipyards.
