Mangaluru, Oct 11, 2026: Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) chairman Santhosh Kumar Shetty inspected several locations to identify a suitable site for a proposed cricket stadium and review lake development works in the Mangalore (Ullal) Assembly constituency.
At the request of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Shetty visited Tannirbhavi, Bengre, Bondel, Mulur, Kandavara and Kudupu to assess their suitability for the stadium.

The KSCA has sought around 50 acres of government land in Mangaluru to develop a cricket stadium with practice facilities and other amenities. KSCA president B K Venkatesh Prasad has requested the land on either a purchase basis or a 50-year lease. The proposed facility aims to strengthen sports infrastructure and provide better opportunities for local cricketers.
Separately, Shetty inspected lakes at Kumpala, Amblamogaru and Harekala ahead of the proposed foundation-laying ceremonies for their development. He reviewed the sites and discussed the planned works with officials, focusing on lake improvement and maintenance.
