MRPL employee dies on duty

Mangalore, July 13, 2012 : An employee of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) died while working at the plant on July 12, Thursday.

 

The deceased is Meghanatha (26) of Madhya Pradesh, who was employed on a contract basis by MRPL one month back.

The plant has chimneys fitted with filters and large fans to release smoke from the furnaces. On Thursday, Meghanath was fixing a filter in one of the chimneys when the fan suddenly began moving and crushed him to death. Nobody knows how the fan started moving even after he had switched it off.

Meghanath’s body was shifted to Wenlock Hospital.
