
Mangalore, Jan 31: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the brand new Bal Bhavan building and children’s train at Kadri Park at a special programme organized by the Karnataka Bal Bhavan Society, Bangalore in collaboration with the Dakshina Kannada Bal Bhavan Committee, Mangalore and Women and Child Welfare Department and Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat on Jan 31, Monday.
In his inaugural address, Nalin Kumar Kateel said that talented children of the district have been given an opportunity to showcase their talents. The new train has been launched in Kadri Park, and the state government has sanctioned Rs. 40 lakh for this project, he said.
Deputy Speaker and MLA Yogish Bhat presided over the event and said that 9 talented children have been selected at the state level for the national level Bala Prathibha Award. He urged the state government and private organizations to identify such talents and honor them in order to encourage them. A total of Rs. 3 lakh have been spent on this project, he said, adding that the donors have stepped forward to provide the required funds for a science park at Kadri.
Mayor Rajani Dugganna, Chairman of Coastal Development Authority B. Nagaraj Shetty, Kannada Sahitya Parishad President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Roopa D. Bangera, ZP CEO Shivashankar, and MCC Commissioner Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash were also present.
