Mangalore, Nov 7, 2013: The staff shortage which the Government Wenlock Hospital was facing was brought to the notice of Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo during his visit to the hospital on November 6, Wednesday. The MLA during his visit inaugurated the renovated kitchen of the hospital. The kitchen has been upgraded at a cost of Rs 14 lakhs.
The employees of the hospital drew the attention of the MLA towards the fact that the hospital faced problems due to shortage of medical and cleaning staff.
Dr Rajeshwari, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, informed that the renovated kitchen has steam boilers and cooking machinery that can cook for 700 patients. She also informed the minister that the hospital faced shortage of physicians and nursing superintendents.
Responding to the grievances, the MLA assured to raise the issue in the Assembly in a bid to find solution to the problem. He further promised to hold talks with the ministers concerned and said the health minister UT Khader who hails from the region, might be aware of the problems.
