Even after 68 years of attaining independence we are struggling to prove our nationality, he regretted. He also said that the Government of India should promise the citizens that the information furnished  in the Aadhaar Card or other cards must be kept confidential, so that any other nation, private agency or anti- social elements do not take undue advantage of such information.

The Government must also constitute an independent department which may be called as ‘Card Issuing Authority of India’ having branches in all states  and Union territories to issue various cards like Voters ID card, ration card, Pan card, NPR  etc, he said. Hegde further urged for simplified procedures  and said the cards must be issued by the local authorities under the surveillance of Card Issuing Authority of India. All the cards must be made available through a single window mechanism, he urged.

Every new born child born to Indian citizen parents must compulsorily be given Indian Citizen Card at the time of issuing of birth certificate, he said.

Yogish Shetty Jeppu, Nithish CV and Yashvanth Mendon were present at the press meet.
