MCCP distributes scholarships among 31 students

Mangalore, Nov 7, 2012: The Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Parish (MCCP) of Muscat on Nov 7, Wednesday distributed scholarships among 31 students and provided financial support to 3 parishes and 7 organizations at a ceremony organized in Milagres Church Hall.

The MCCP has so far given away scholarships and financial assistance worth Rs. 11.25 lakhs.

A large number of students from Mangalore, Gulbarga, and Bellary received scholarships on this occasion.

The chief guest of the occasion was Milagres College Principal Fr. Francis Gomes. The scholarships were given away by Mandd Sobhann President Stany Alvares and MCCP President Stany Fernandes.

Addressing the gathering, Stany Fernandes said that the association, which was launched in 1992, has contributed heavily for social welfare. The association raises funds for the needy by organizing a number of programs in Muscat.

Lauding the MCCP, Fr. Gomes said that empowering students is the best help one can give. He also congratulated the students who received the scholarships.

Sr. Aloysius also spoke on the occasion. Louis J. Pinto, Fr. Freddy, Fr. Jerald Sequeira, and Elias Fernandes were also present.
