Mangaluru, Nov 15, 2025: The Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner has directed the heads of private and government educational institutions, hospitals, sports complexes, bus stands, and railway stations within the limits of the urban local body to inspect their premises for the presence of stray dogs and submit a report within the next five days.
Institutions have been instructed to take measures to prevent stray dog nuisance and control their movement within their premises. They must also cooperate with the City Corporation in relocating stray dogs and appoint one responsible staff member as a nodal officer to monitor and restrict the entry of stray dogs.
As per Supreme Court guidelines, if stray dogs are allowed to re-enter or stay on the premises after relocation, the cost of relocating them again will be recovered from the concerned institution. Any violation of the Supreme Court order will lead to legal action against the institution as per the court’s directions, the Commissioner stated in the release.
