Storm water drains in the area were already blocked because of construction work going on in the vicinity. One Gopalakrishna is constructing a building on his private property and Kanchana Automotives is constructing a new outlet in this area. Both had built walls, which blocked storm water drains and caused rainwater to overflow and flood the area.

When water began overflowing onto the highway, MCC officers arrived on the spot and found that the flooding was because of the walls constructed by Gopalakrishna and Kanchana Automotives.

When the MCC team requested Kanchana Automotives to do the necessary repairs, the company agreed immediately, but Gopalakrishna refused. Since he refused to cooperate with them, the MCC team demolished the compound wall.

Shrikanth Rao, MCC joint commissioner, said that Gopalkrishna went ahead with the construction work without first getting a license from the MCC. He said that the civic body will take stern action against Gopalakrishna.
