Mangaluru, Oct 28, 2020: Mangaluru City Corporation which has initiated stern measures with regard to solid waste management as well as waste segegation at source, has decided against accepting unsegregated wastes from places outside the city.
A resolution to this effect was passed by the MCC Meeting held on Wednesday under the presidentship of Mayor Diwaker Pandeshwar.
Commissioner Akshy Sridhar said measures have been taken in all wards of Mangaluru to collect segregated wastes. Measures would beheforth be taken to prevent the garbage vehicles from 15 GPs which carry unsegregated waste to Pachhanady dumping yard, he added.
Mayor Diwaker expressed happiness over the release of Rs 20 crores towards providing compensation to the people affected by the Pachanady garbage slip.
During the meeting, Congress members took exception to the neglect of opposition leaders during the Alake market inauguration and failure to adhere to protocol in this regard.
