M. Vivek Alva Appointed Deputy National Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides

Mangaluru, July 5, 2026: M. Vivek Alva, Managing Trustee of Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, has been appointed Deputy National Commissioner (Cultural Exchange) of the Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG), headquartered in New Delhi.

The appointment was made by K.K. Khandelwal, Chief National Commissioner of BSG and a retired IAS officer. In his new role, Alva will coordinate cultural exchange programmes, national integration camps, youth exchange initiatives, cultural jamborees, and national and international youth interaction programmes. He will also work with Scouts and Guides organisations worldwide to promote cultural understanding and international cooperation.

Alva will be responsible for promoting India’s cultural diversity and the spirit of "unity in diversity" among youth, while providing opportunities for Scouts and Guides to showcase their talents at national and international platforms.

A long-time member of the Scouts and Guides movement, Alva has played a key role in organising international cultural jamborees, national integration camps, youth leadership programmes and several national-level events. He was recently appreciated for successfully coordinating the International Cultural Jamboree at Moodbidri.
