Mangaluru, Aug 5, 2026: Congress spokesperson M.G. Hegde on Tuesday dismissed allegations that the recent Jantar Mantar protest received foreign funding, questioning why central agencies had not acted if such claims were true.
Addressing a press conference, Hegde said that if foreign funds had indeed been used, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the country’s intelligence agencies should have detected and acted on the matter.
He further alleged that the RSS receives support from abroad and claimed that the organisation has conducted route marches in 20 to 30 countries and is registered in around 40 countries.
Hegde challenged the RSS to state that it had never received any foreign funding.
His remarks came while responding to allegations regarding the funding of the Jantar Mantar protest.
