Lokayukta traps PWD Junior Engineer while accepting bribe

Mangaluru, Oct 18, 2023: A Junior Engineer at the PWD Office at Bondel in Mangaluru was trapped by the Lokayukta while accepting bribe from a contractor. The arrested Junior Engineer is Ronald Lobo.

 

Prabhaker Naik, a Class 2 contractor of the PWD had got done developmental works at the SC/ ST Colony in two villages of Belthangady at a cost of Rs 45 lakhs. When he had applied to the PWD to prepare a report in this regard, Lobo, an Engineer in the Quality Assurances Division of PWD had reportedly demanded a bribe of Rs 22,000. Prabhaker who refused to heed to the demand had complained to the Lokayukta. On Wednesday when Prabhaker approached the engineer with the bribe amount the latter was trapped by the Lokayukta officials.
