
Mangaluru, September 11, 2026: Lokayukta police on Thursday conducted raids at the offices of seven Gram Panchayats in Dakshina Kannada district in connection with a suo motu case registered at the Lokayukta central office.
The raids were carried out at Bellare and Panja Gram Panchayats in Sullia taluk; Talapady, Konaje and Balepuni Gram Panchayats in Ullal taluk; Bala Gram Panchayat in Mangaluru taluk; and Belvai Gram Panchayat in Moodbidri taluk.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of B.P. Dinesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Mangaluru Lokayukta Division.
The team included Lokayukta officials from the Mangaluru, Karwar and Udupi units, led by Dr. Gana P. Kumar and Suresh Kumar P., Deputy Superintendents of Police, Mangaluru unit; Police Inspector Bharathi G.; Dhanya Nayak, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Karwar unit; Police Inspector Ravi N.N.; Halamurthy Rao V.S., Deputy Superintendent of Police, Udupi unit; and Police Inspector Manjunath.
According to a Lokayukta police release, the raids were conducted in connection with the suo motu case registered at the central office.
A report detailing the irregularities and shortcomings identified at the Gram Panchayat offices will be submitted to the Lokayukta central office, the release said.
