Lokayukta Sleuths Nab Udupi Excise Inspector

Udupi, December 30: Lokayukta sleuths nab Excise Inspector of Udupi Hanumanthappa red handed for receiving a bribe of Rs 5,000 from one Udaya Kumar Shetty, bar owner in Kokkarne on Wednesday.

 

As per the sources, Hanumanthappa had raided Udaya Kumar Shetty’s ‘Palace View Bar and Restaurant’ and had threatened to file a criminal case against the accused for having the business illegally in three places with one license.

Following which Udaya Kumar Shetty had logged a complaint with the Lokayuktha stating that he was threatened by the excise inspector to par Rs 1,000 every month and a lumpsum amount of Rs 5,000.

Acting on the information gathered, the Lokayuktha SP Jagamayyanavar and his team caught Hanumanthappa, while receiving the bribe from Udaya Kumar Shetty, in the  Abakari Bhavana, at Ajjarkad on Wednesday.
