Lokayukta Mysore SP S. E. D’Souza dies of massive heart attack

Karkala, Mar 2, 2012 :S. E. D’Souza of Karkala, who was the Lokayukta superintendent of police in Mysore, died of a cardiac arrest on duty on March 1 Thursday. He has left behind his wife and sons Alfred and Albert. According to the family, the funeral will be held on Friday.

 

lok1Known for his simplicity, efficiency, straightforwardness, and honesty, Mr. D’Souza attended duty as usual on the morning of Thursday, but developed severe chest pain at around 3:30 p.m. Believing it to be a gastric-related problem, he took a tablet, and went to the rest room to take some rest. When he did not return even at 5:00 p.m., a Lokayukta constable went to the rest room and found that he was no more.

The constable alerted the other officers who rushed up to the rest room and tried to bring him back to life by rubbing his chest, feet, and hands. He was then rushed to Vikram Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

One of the doctors said that Mr. D’Souza could have been saved if he came to the hospital immediately when he developed the chest pain.

The body was then taken to his house in Mysore.

Born in Karkala, Mr. D’Souza joined the police department as a sub inspector in 1974. He served at various places such as Mandy, Mysore, and others. He was promoted to the post of SP in 2007 and then got transferred to the Mysore Lokayukta.
