Lions Club to organize Kannada folk art celebration

Mangalore, Nov 16, 2011: The Lions Club, Mangalore and the Department of Kannada and Culture will organize Lions Kannada Folk Celebration on Nov 19 Saturday.

Yogesh Kumar Jeppu told reporters that the event will comprise a number of cultural presentations such as a group folk song contest for PU students, various folk dance presentations, songs, and a Yakshagana prasanga titled “Drupada Garvabhanga.”


Dr Chinnappa Gowda, registrar of Mangalore University will participate was the main speaker, while District In charge minister Krsihna J Palemar will be the chief guest on the occasion.


Hariskrishna Punaroor, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, B R Bhat, General Manager, Corporation Bank, Ln J. K. Rao, former president of Lions Club and others will be the guest of honour.


Stating that Lions Club respects regional culture and language, he said that this is the reason the event is being organized. 


J. K. Rao, N. T. Raja, Taranath Shetty Bolar, Arehole Sadashiva Rao, and others were also present.
