Leopard rescued after falling into well in Shirva

Udupi, September 6: A leopard, which had fallen into a well in Soodapalli Gram panchayat near Shirva, has been rescued following efforts of the forest department and locals, The incident occurred at 3pm on Sunday, September 5.

Forest official, who rescued the wild animal with help of locals, said that the rescue operations had begun as soon as they got information from the villagers. It had come to the village in search of food and fell into the well in an attempt to hunt a dog.


On Sunday, the family members of Sapaliga have found the Leopard and their dog in the well. The forest officials, who rushed to the spot have dropped a cage into the well and pulled out the leopard and dog. The leopard was rescued without major injuries.


The officials of forest department have left the leopard at the National Reserve Forest, Kudremukh, later.
