
Belthangady, January 26, 2026: A leopard that had been roaming and causing fear among farmers in Beltangadi taluk for several days was finally captured after falling into a trap set by the forest department.
The incident occurred in Nanda village, where the leopard had been creating panic among the local farming community. Following repeated reports of leopard sightings and attacks, the forest department formed a special team and installed traps at multiple locations across the taluk.
The moment the leopard fell into the trap was captured on CCTV cameras. Authorities confirmed that the same leopard had attacked a farmer about three weeks ago.
The capture has brought relief to farmers in the region, who had been anxious about the repeated leopard sightings.
