Land for proposed IT Park becomes hot topic of debate at MCC meet

Mangaluru, Jul 29, 2021: The issue of  land for the proposed IT Park in Mangaluru resulted in a heated debate at the MCC Council meeting held on July 29, Thursday.

Raising the issue, Opposition leader Vinayraj said it was unlawful on the part of the authorities to  acquire 9.4 acre land  near Bondel through TDR.

Finally, Mayor Premananda Shetty said any land for the proposed project would not be acquired through TDR.

Vinayraj said as per the rules the government  must first notify the land for an IT Park and added the MCC cannot do it. He also accused the local MLA of  deviating from rules by handing over the letter regarding land for IT Park in his constituency, to the MCC instead of the government.

Commenting on the issue, Corporation  Commissioner Akshy Sridhar said  there has been no resolution to  have an IT Park in the said land. Only proposal is being sent to the government for permission to get land through TDR, he added.

Deputy Mayor Sumangala was also present.
