Mangaluru, April 19, 2021: Senior Congress leader and former minister B Ramanatha Rai has said that there was lack of co-ordination between officials and elected representatives over the issue of Covid control measures.
Speaking to reporters at the District Congress Office on April 19, Monday, he said the state government as well as the district administration should immediately convene an all party meeting to discuss remedial measures in the backdrop of the rise in Covid cases.
He said the Anna Bhagya and Indira a canteen schemes initiated by the Siddaramaiah led erstwhile state government as well as the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee scheme of the erstwhile UPA government helped the people during last year’s lockdown and added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was more concerned about votes rather than the Covid pandemic.
Rai lashed out at a BJP leader’s remark that the BJP was a sinking ship and said it was better for them to think about their own party rather than worry about Congress.
