Labour Rights Awareness Jatha gets warm welcome in city

Mangalore, July 08, 2014:   The Labour Rights Awareness Jatha which was inaugurated in Karwar on July 6 under the aegis of the CITU arrived in the city on July 8, Tuesday. Several CITU office bearers and  activists accorded the jatha a warm welcome. The jatha was organised to publicise the All India General Council of the CITU to be held in Bellary from July 11 to 14.

The jatha named after senior labour leader late B Ramachandra Rao is led by Balakrishna Shetty, State CITU Secretary.

 The jatha aims at pressurising the government to fix a common minimum wage of Rs 15000 across the nation, to replace the new pension scheme by a monthly pension scheme of providing Rs 3000, to regularise the services of 108 Arogya Kavacha workers etc.
