The tanker was transporting 12,000 litres of LPG in 3 separate 4000-litre compartments. A fire-fighting team comprising water tenders, a rescue team, and 16 water dousers from Kadri as well as Pandeshwar fire fighting units are currently at the spot. Fire fighters from Moodubidri, Sullia, and Belthangady have also been deputed. Since morning, the rescue teams are trying to prevent anything dangerous from happening.

Since the gas is still leaking from the tanker, experts have warned local people not to start any fire in their homes for any purpose. The flow of traffic has been diverted through Gundia to Kadaba and all Bangalore-bound vehicles have been directed to take the Charmadi Ghat road. Since the tanker overturned in a remote area, rescue teams reached the spot very late.
