Kundapura: Huge shoal of ‘Boothayi’ fish washes ashore at Kodi beach

Kundapura, Sep 26, 2026: A large quantity of Boothayi (Indian oil sardine) fish washed ashore at Kodi beach in Kundapura taluk on Saturday morning, drawing hundreds of people to the seafront to collect the fish.

The fish came close to the shore along with the waves in large numbers. Locals and visitors rushed to the beach and collected the fish using bags, buckets and other containers.

The unusual sight of the huge shoal washing ashore attracted a large crowd, with several people seen gathering fish along the coastline.
