Kundapur: Power man dies after bike rams electric pole near Shankaranarayana

Kundapur, Nov 24, 2025: A 28-year-old power man attached to the Siddapur Mescom branch, Sachin Kallappa Sankratti, died after his bike lost control and crashed into an electric pole near Kalgadde in Shankaranarayana village on the night of November 22.

Sachin, working in the Siddapur Kadri section, had completed his duty earlier in the day and later attended a programme with friends. The accident occurred while he was heading towards Kundapur to drop his friend Basava Kiran, who was travelling to Belagavi.

Sachin was riding alone, while his friends — Chintamani’s Rahul R. Madar and Basava Kiran — followed on another bike. He sustained severe head injuries and was taken to the Kundapur Government Hospital in a 108 ambulance, where he was declared dead.

Sachin, the only son in his family, hailed from an agricultural household in Balegere, Athani taluk of Belagavi district. The youngest of four children, he had three married elder sisters. He had joined the Siddapur Mescom branch in 2022 and was made permanent three months ago after completing his training.

Following the post-mortem at Kundapur Government Hospital, the body was sent to his native place. Mescom officials, including executive engineer Yashavanth (Kundapur division), assistant executive engineer Guruprasad Bhat (Shankaranarayana division), and junior engineer Krishna, visited the hospital.

A complaint has been filed by Rahul R. Madar, 25, and a case has been registered at the Shankaranarayana police station.
