Kundapur: Leopard rescued after falling into well at Jansale

Kundapur, May 18, 2026: A leopard that had wandered from the forest into a residential area was rescued after falling into a well at Hosamane in Jansale of Siddapur village on Sunday, May 17.

According to reports, the leopard fell into the well after the protective net covering it gave way. Local residents immediately alerted the forest department, which launched a rescue operation and safely lifted the animal out using a cage.

The rescued leopard, identified as a nearly four-year-old female, was later taken to the Shankaranarayana range forest office. After undergoing a veterinary examination, it was safely released back into the forest.

Deputy Range Forest Officers Manjunath and Santosh Tatlagi, forest guards Zaheer and Prashanth, other forest department staff, and local residents took part in the rescue operation.
