Kundapur: Gang attack on lawyer at Byndoor

Kundapur, Aug 17, 2023: An advocate named Ganesh Mesta was assaulted by a gang near the Shiroor Kotemane Durgambika Temple on August 16 afternoon. It is alleged that the assault was an act of enmity as the assailants were unhappy with Ganesh Mesta taking up a particular case.

 

Mesta practices at Byndoor Court and is also a Member of Byndoor Bar association. It is learnt Ganesh Mesta was the lawyer for one side in a case pertaining to Mesta community which was heard in Byndoor Court, Kundapur Court and High Court. It is suspected that this was the cause of the attack.

Ganesh Mesta had on August 16 been to the Durgambika Temple on the occasion of Amavasya for pooja when he was attacked. The assailants also robbed a cash of Rs 5000 from Mesta and threatened him.

The accused have been named as Sridhar Mesta, Naveen Mesta, Girish Mesta, Sudhaker Mesta, Chandrashekhar Mesta, Annappa Mesta and K N Achar.

Byndoor Bar Association President Mobi has alleged that the police have not filed FIR even 12 hours after the incident.
