Kundapur: Boat goes off track as fishermen doze off

Kundapur, May 02, 2024: A fishing boat which had ventured into deep sea fishing from the Malpe fisheries port went off track after those in the boat dozed off resulting in the boat landing at Beejady and getting caught in a mound of sand.

 

The boat had set off from Malpe port on the midnight of April 30, However as all fishermen on board dozed off, the boat lost way and was seen at Beejadi on the morning of May 1. It is believed that strong winds was also responsible for the incident.

The boat’s fan blades were damaged. Later it was repaired and was let in the water with the help of two other boats and a JCB and measures were taken to see that it reached Malpe.
