Kumaradhara tragedy: Minister Angara hands over compensation to bereaved family

Sullia, Aug 03, 2022: DK District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Fisheries and Ports S Angara  has handed over a cheque for Rs 11.5 lakh to Kusumadhar and Roopashri couple who lost their two little daughters after a hill behind their house caved in and fell over their house at Panja Karimajalu near Kumaradhara on August 1, Monday night.

The family is in a state of shock and utter grief following the death of Shruthi(11) and Ganashree(6). Though Kusumadhar, Roopashri and  the former’s mother managed to rush out, the two children could not come out of the house as a wall fell over them. Though rescue operations were initiated immediately, by the time the children were retrieved, they had lost their lives.

The last rites of the children were held on Tuesday amid hundreds of mourners.

Shruthi was a fifth standard student of Kumaraswamy School in Subrahmanya and Ganashree was a second standard student of Subrahmanya Government School.

Even Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra had visited the tragedy spot  on Tuesday morning.
