Mangaluru, Oct 3, 2025: Pratibha Kulai, member of the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission, on Friday stated that Krishna Rao, the accused in a Puttur cheating case, must marry the woman after DNA tests confirmed his paternity.

Speaking at a press conference on October 3, Kulai said that Krishna Rao had allegedly promised to marry the woman, impregnated her, and later abandoned her. “Now that the DNA report has confirmed his paternity, he should appear in court at the next hearing and agree to marry her. If he refuses, a protest will be organized outside his residence,” she warned.

Kulai noted that the accused’s family has not initiated any discussions regarding the marriage. “The only way to resolve this case is by ensuring the marriage takes place. The efforts of K. P. Nanjundi to secure justice for the woman are commendable,” she said.

She also questioned the silence of social leaders and religious heads. “Where are the leaders and swamijis who had earlier promised to ensure the marriage? Why are they not stepping forward now, even after the DNA report?” she asked.
