
Udupi, Nov 12, 2025: The Konkan Railway has collected a total of ₹12.81 crore in fines from ticketless and unauthorized passengers over the past six months, as part of a special campaign to curb ticketless travel.
According to a statement from Konkan Railway, between April and September 2025, officials conducted 5,493 special ticket inspection drives across its network. During this period, 1,82,781 passengers were found travelling without valid tickets or authorization, resulting in the collection of ₹12.81 crore, including ticket fares and penalties.
The campaign continued in October, with 920 additional inspections leading to the detection of 42,645 ticketless or unauthorized passengers, from whom ₹2.40 crore in fines was recovered.
Railway authorities have urged passengers to purchase valid tickets before boarding to avoid inconvenience and penalties, adding that ticket checking drives will be intensified across all Konkan Railway routes in the coming months.
