Kerala Govt to provide Rs 3 lakh to Manipal gang rape victim under Nirbhaya Fund

Kasargod, July 23, 2013: The Kerala Government has announced that it would be offering Rs 3 lakhs to the Manipal gang rape victim under the Central Government’s Nirbhaya Fund.

 

The 22 year old medical student of Manipal University who was gang raped by three men on the night of June 20, hails from Tiruvananthapuram in Kerala.

It is learnt,she is being provided the amount for bravely overcoming the cruelty meted out to her by the perpetrators of the heinous act. Earlier,Sunitha Krishnan, advisor for Nirbhaya project in Kerala, had appealed to the government to award the fund to the Manipal student.

Police have arrested five persons including the three men who had committed the heinous act. The brothers of two of the accused too have been arrested.
