Kaup: Two brothers arrested for murder of elderly woman in Manipura

Kaup, Mar 10, 2026: Two brothers have been arrested in connection with the murder of an elderly woman at Manipura in Kaup.

The accused have been identified as Praveen Mendonca and Valerian Mendonca. The brothers reportedly used to consume alcohol with their neighbour, Vanaja Poojarthi (60).

According to police, the incident occurred between 5 pm on Monday, March 9, and 7 am on Tuesday, March 10. Following a trivial argument, Valerian and Praveen allegedly attacked Vanaja Poojarthi with a sharp weapon, leading to her death.

A case has been registered at the Kaup police station. A forensic team from KMC, the SoCO team, the dog squad, and fingerprint experts visited the scene and carried out an investigation.
