
Kaup, Mar 7, 2026: Three persons, including a schoolboy, were injured and four vehicles were damaged in two separate accidents that occurred within a span of about 15 minutes near Dandatheertha and Kothalkatte at Uliargoli on National Highway 66 on Friday evening.
In the first incident near Dandatheertha, a bike reportedly rammed into a car and then hit a mother and her child who were waiting for a bus after picking up the child from a playschool. LKG student Gaurav of a local school and the bike rider Mahesh, a staff member of Pashu Sanjeevini, sustained serious injuries in the mishap. Local residents rushed the injured rider and the child to a hospital in Udupi. Both the car and the bike were damaged in the accident.
In another incident near Kothalkatte, a car heading towards Udupi collided with an auto-rickshaw, causing damage to both vehicles. The auto-rickshaw driver suffered a head injury, and the vehicle overturned on the road. Mangoes being transported in the auto-rickshaw were scattered across the road following the collision. The injured driver was admitted to a hospital in Udupi.
Police from Kaup station visited both accident spots, conducted inspections and registered cases.
