Kasargod cops bust liquor smuggling racket

Kasargod, Oct 21, 2013 : Kasargod police who have unearthed a racket of smuggling foreign brand liquor into the town via train, have arrested two persons.

Those arrested are Premjith (27) of Battampare and Umesh (21) of Nellikunje. The arrests followed the seizing of as many as 560 bottles of foreign liquor while it was being transported in an autorickshaw on October 13.

It is learnt, the liquor used to be frequently supplied to Kasargod from Goa via train.

One of the arrested Premjith used to transport the liquor by train to Kasargod. The same used to be then transported in Umesh’s autorickshaw and supplied to various places in Kasargod district.
