Kasargod: Young Bengaluru engineer killed as bike crashes into bus stop during Onam visit

Kasargod, Sep 9, 2025: A 22-year-old aeronautical engineer who had come home for the Onam holidays died in a road accident on Monday afternoon after his bike overturned and hit a bus stop pole at Iriyanni Manjakal.

The deceased has been identified as M. Jitesh, a resident of Vattantattu, Bethurpara.


Bike crash


Police said the accident occurred while Jitesh was riding from Kanathur towards Iriyanni. He lost control of the two-wheeler, which veered off the road and crashed into the bus shelter pole, causing the bike to overturn.

Jitesh, who was working in Bengaluru, had returned to Kasargod a few days ago to celebrate Onam with his family.

“The impact was severe, and he died on the spot,” a police officer said.

Adhur police conducted the inquest and registered a case. The body was sent to Kasargod General Hospital for post-mortem and later handed over to the family for the last rites.
