
Kasargod, Nov 17, 2025: A woman was killed and four others were injured, two of them critically, after an Alto car and a Thar jeep collided near Muttam, close to Bandiyodu on National Highway 66, on Sunday evening.
The victim has been identified as C P Fathimmath Mirjana (28) of Kodi, Machampady in Manjeshwar.
The injured occupants of the Alto are Hussain Sahadi (34) of Machampady, Zakiya (15), Juman (19) and Abdul Salim (3). According to eyewitnesses, the Alto “suddenly braked,” causing the vehicle behind to lose control and ram into it, resulting in the fatal crash.
The impact left the Alto severely damaged. The Thar overturned after its driver lost control, though those inside the jeep escaped with minor injuries.
All the injured were shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru. The deceased woman was travelling in the Alto at the time of the accident.
Traffic movement on NH-66 was affected for a while as police and locals worked to clear the site.
Kumble Police have registered a case and begun investigating the cause of the accident.
